As lovely as this Iris panel is, it was destined for failure and breakage. Every single green leaf is broken along with the stems leading to the flowers. There are also several clear (glue chip) glass sections that surround the leaves that have failed as well.
Many of the leaves and stems are over 10 inches tall and under 1 inch wide. They are also at the bottom of the panel and bear the burden of all the weight.
Copper Foil panels can be tricky to repair especially when a total redesign and rebuild is in order.
This is where an experienced glass artist is a necessity when creating a successful design that will withstand the test of time.
