I never get tired of making Moons & Stars, and I have been making them for over 30 years. This particular series is made with hand-made, mouth-blown float glass – the glass blower is Jim Freeman and now retired. There is a sparkle and distinct style to Freemont glass that is unmistakable. You can feel the energy and movement as the appearance of clouds seem to move through these panels of light and sparkle. I will use this glass to make very special works until I have no more left. And, of course, I continue to hunt for glass collectors that still have a few sheets of this special glass in their racks and ready to pass them forward.
I prefer the traditional lead technique. Making large panels for a client or small panels to hang in front of a window in a home. I always cement (waterproof) and neutralize the soldering and lead metal to protect and preserve it for years to come.
I hope you enjoy this series, and I will be making more as time tarries onward.
