1820s Medallion Panels Restoration

4 Seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. These beautiful 1820s medallion panels are hand painted and originally created for a home in Philadelphia.

I wish I could take credit for creating them. The firing conditions in the 1800s did not include electric kilns. These were created in a gas-fired environment without knowing the exact temperature. Artisans in the 1800s we’re trained to “read the flame” and atmosphere of the interior of a brick-made kiln. It is always an honor as an artisan to be included in preserving history.

I am the third glass artist to restore these incredibly significant 200-year-old panels. Today, they reside in a home here in New Bern, NC.
