I had the incredible honor of receiving the Women in the Arts Recognition Award from the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
This meaningful recognition celebrated my artistic contributions, particularly for my stained glass creations at the CarolinaEast Cancer Center Chapel in New Bern, NC, in 2021, and my efforts in the restoration and preservation of the original 1904 stained glass panels at the Centenary Methodist Church.
The award also highlighted my ceramic installation 1000 Possibilities, which was displayed at Fine Art at Baxter’s in 2012.
Each of these projects reflects a piece of my creative journey and my deep love for working with glass, clay, and other mixed media.
I have walked the Art path for over 40 years, working mostly in glass and clay and a bit of other mixed media materials. When I ponder my day-to-day activities and reflect backwards on the road I chose to travel, I can honestly say the choices I made yesterday shaped the artist — and person — I am today, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Thank you, Susan Lucas (NC DAR New Bern chapter), Susan Moffat-Thomas, and all the women on the American Heritage Committee of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution for this wonderful honor.
