This beautiful original hand-made door and transom were created about 50 years ago and still in excellent condition. Workers coming and going through the front door damaged one bevel.
The first step was to make a pattern of the broken bevel. Custom beveling is a rare skill in the U.S., and since this door was handmade, a standard replacement bevel simply wasn’t an option, a custom bevel was needed.
I crafted a pattern, sent it along with two glass blanks to a skilled artisan on the West Coast, and within 14 days, the perfect replacement arrived back here at Studio M.
Saving what is worth preserving is my motto, and the results are a beautiful door to enjoy once again for decades to come.
A big shout out to OfficeTo-Go.com who designed and maintains my website. I cannot tell you how important it is to have a qualified web person who has the knowledge to help people find me as stained glass restoration and preservation is a niche market. As far as I am aware, Studio M is the only source to repair this type of breakage in Eastern North Carolina. Cyndi Papia at Office To-Go LLC makes it easy for people to find me on the world wide web.
